after coaxing the old 6hp back to life, i realize its to dang tired. I gotta believe I can go down to the motor-mart and pick up a new briggs for this old girl. Does anyone know what i gotta do to put a new motor in it will I have to drill it full of holes? how about shaft size? WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW? This little rig cuts like a ginsu, its the perfect "2nd Mower".

Doug, what it sounds like you should do is pull the motor and talk to someone who works at a reputable small motor shop. There should be a new briggs that will just bolt in with the exhisting holes already in the frame. Also, if the motor is just getting tired but the block and everything is in good shape, you might be better off having it re-built. You can either do this yourself or take it somewhere, would make a great learning project. Just depends with what you are comfortable with. Best of luck to ya!,-BradW
