Brettw
Sounds like the breaker perhaps? Let it sit, it cools down and resets. Runs for a bit and shuts down, something drawing too much juice or a short somewhere. When it dies right away, dump a tad of fuel in the air filter and see if it re-fires, if not I doubt it's fuel. Ronald Hribar
Take fuel line off see if you can fill a pint of gas thinking filter inside of tank is plugged or fuel line has collapsed
Tooly
Line is clear and tank and vent pristine ( new). I tried that first lol thank you
Tooly
It's wierd brett. The second it dies it fires right back up. No prob. Runs 2-3 mins. Dies . Restart instantly. What breaker are we referencing Brett?
PhanDad
@Brettw is probably referring to the main breaker between the battery and ignition switch. If it trips, you lose power to the KT battery ignition. To test his theory you could power the coil temporarily with a wire directly from the battery. If the engine keeps running, you’ve found the issue. (Be sure to make the temporary wire easy to disconnect so you can stop the engine)
ShaunE
I know it's a long shot. But if it is the breaker, make sure your battery & solenoid terminals are tight.

maxwood
Hello, I don't know if this is relevant, I had a A 7117 that would run real bad or trouble starting. The points plunger allowed oil to get on the points . Hope this helps Thanks Ken in Mi
Ronald Hribar
Power from battery terminal to coil ?
Tarheel
I ran into a problem that was very close to this although the engine was a Magnum. I'm not sure the same issue would apply to a KT but maybe worth a shot. On the magnums the air bleed vent routed through a hole in the front of the carb. This hole lined up with the filter elbow that bolted to the carb. This vent was plugged in the elbow. pulling the choke would help it run poorly for a bit before dying.
