AC710
Has anyone heard of a 716 Hydro Simplicity? An owner posted this pic on another website and feels it is an original tractor. It certainly looks Simplicity with the paint scheme, decal on front frame, and Briggs engine. No part number or serial # found. I have seen 716 AC's with Briggs engines, but not a Simplicity labeled 716H??? Any enlightenment from the experts here? Or, alternatively clues and observations about paint, weathering, etc as to what may have happened over time. I have been debating with him, but my experience is limited to my two tractors and what I read here and other internet research.
PhanDad
I'm suspicious of the "716 Hydro" decal. The tractor is similar to my late 7016H: With the rectangular headlights and "Simplicity" across the front of the frame: But the seat pan in your pic doesn't have the white and black stripes. The MFG# for my tractor is on the top of the frame between the dash and the seat: I think it's a mutt.
AC710
My guess is: 7016 Simplicity with replaced wrong decal from an AC. Seat pan repainted based on the mottled appearance of the paint. Electric lift added.
AC710
Here is another clue: Driveshaft tunnel on a Hydro tractor with manual shifter hole, missing large instruction label and mis-placed warning label. Also no ID tag. Do the 700/7000 Hydro tractors normally have the shifter hole covered by the decal, or do they use a different frame? Was the ID tag ever in a different place? All the frames have the shifter hole stamped in & covered by the decal. Even the late model Sovereigns. I'm guessing this was repainted at some point since all the bolt heads are painted. This would not be the case if original.
