Simplicity 6116 Exhaust......

I have a Simplicity 6116, with the 16 hp Briggs. The muffler deflector,?? is rusted/ rotted off. Does the exhaust point out forward or down towards the ground?? It seems like everything under the hood is really getting too hot. Also there is a rectangular piece of sheet metal attached on the front of the muffler. I am not sure if it is mounted towards the up or down position. I someone could post a picture it sure would help me out. Thanks.

I'm going to take a guess that the 6116 is the same as the 6216 that I own. The exhaust deflector (outlet) points to the right side of the tractor, and exits above the frame. It is a pancake looking part that screws into four holes that surround the opening on the bottom of the muffler, and has a rectangular tube about 1/2" by 1 1/2" that sticks out past the edge of the frame about 1". Regards
