PECO Owners

I've had my PECO unit for 5 years.  Today when I was dismounting it I noticed the unpainted plate on the bottom of the tray:

Can any PECO owner confirm the lack of that plate on their unit?

I'm thinking it was a PO improvement to stiffen the unit.  Probably a good thing.

As opposed to this other PO "improvement":

I guess the pulley won't fall off anymore.  But I think changing the bearings won't be easy.

I have had 2, maybe 3 over the years. One was NOS still in the box when I got it. None of them had a plate welded under the pan.

I have a transmission with a drive pulley welded on like that....I was thinking the same thing. Especially since I need to take it off here soon to see if I can find which seal is leaking

Looks like a pigeon did the weld job should take to long to grind it free.

I don't see any reason to remove it.

Only downside is additional weight, but that's minor.  So it stays.  Maybe next year I'll get around to painting it.

I was talking about the pulley weld.

Oops.

Might grind that one off someday if I need to replace the bearings.  But I'm guessing the shaft,  keyway or something is messed up.

It does look as though the weld jobs were not done by the same guy...the plate weld is a good job...probably never prepped the shaft for the pulley...and probably tried to weld over the paint on the pulley...not a great job...but it seems to hold sm01
