Fun in the Snow

Had a fairly decent snowfall here this week. Somewhere between 5-7 inches. Did the concrete drive with the walk behind but still had the gravel drive to clean up. Of course I figured it would be an easy winter and I had left the 7116 with blade and chains blocked in by a B-110 with cart. Even at 0-degrees the 7116 fired up with just some extra choke and manipulation of the throttle shaft. Cheapie L&G battery and bendix starter whizzed the engine over like it was nothing. On the B-110,  Had to remove the hood and tighten up the generator belt and then jumped the B-110 off the running 7116.  It was a pain to get going.

After getting it out of the way, took the 7116 up the hill and made a few passes at the end of the drive. Then lost a chain and thus lost traction. Too cold and dark then to put it back on. Ran the tractor off of the drive and it got stuck. In-stuck the tractor and Reinstalled in the sun the following day.

After reinstalling the chain, I opened up the gravel road. Ended up doing about 620 ft of gravel drive since it was doing pretty good. Some drifts were around 15 inches. I tried to leave just enough to keep from getting into the gravel. I’ll definitely add wheel weights next winter.

That long of a drive ya'd think you would have a plow truck, nice and warm, I like to play just the same as everyone else but with years piling up just can't handle the cold anymore.

You are not kidding that is a long drivewayhe trees lining the driveway. The trees must help a lot

in preventing drifting

Take care

Our house is right off of the state blacktop by only about 150 ft  but the private lane continues on an easement back to the five neighbors homes behind us. Most of the time another neighbor will plow the rest of the road with a larger tractor. I just couldn't resist.  The road is about 1/4 mile long overall but about half of that is on our property.
