Natural gas engine . How hard to convert?

Hey guys I found a natural gas Magnum 18 .  All I would need is a carb and install a fuel pump right? Guy wants a 100.00 it is supposed to be like new. That would be a direct replacemt for the Duetz 917 I'm   suppose to pick up this weekend with loader and backhoe that runs but smokes badly.

Muffler, heat shield, exhaust manifolds. and the carb, fuel pump might still be there if you are lucky.

When you get the flywheel looking thing of the end of the crank it might have tapered nose, not a straight shaft.  Not a real problem if you run everything off the Mid PTO with cone clutch.

Engines run of Natural gas or propane are supposed to be cleaner inside than gasoline powered engines.

If the 917 still has a KT you will hae to also change ignition switch, or put the relay "fix" into the electrical system.  I had to do that when I put a Magnum in my 917.

As to smoking make sure you check breather set-up.

Frome the look of the pick the back of the engine is straight shaft. It was used at a county building as a back up air pump or water pump.

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
