You will not find cat 0 parts except for maybe toplinks. Cat 1 is totally different in size of components. Lower lift arms are significantly longer, toplinks are longer, spacing is greater between lower lift arms, pins are heavier and the mounting points for the various parts is different...Lifting capabilities are different so cat 1 implements will be too heavy generally for the cat 0 setup... Here are the specs: (copied from antique tractor's site) Category 0 For Tractors with up to 20 Horsepower Top Link Pins are 5/8 inch in Diameter Lift Arm Pins are 5/8 inch in Diameter Category 1 For Tractors with 20 to 45 Horsepower Top Link Pins are 3/4 inch in Diameter Lift Arm Pins are 7/8 inch in Diameter Category 2 For Tractors with 55-65 to 90-95 Horsepower Top Link Pins are 1 inch in Diameter Lift Arm Pins are 1 and 1/8 inch in Diameter Category 3 For Tractors with 95 to 100 Horsepower and Up Top Link Pins are 1 and 1/4 inch in Diameter Lift Arm Pins are 1 and 7/16 inch in Diameter ...Woody

I wanted to get a general understanding of the difference between category "0" and category "1". It seems that almost all of the aftermarket implements come as category "1" only. Can I convert my 3 point hitch? What is involved? Thanks.

Jeff, some CAT-1 implements such as grader blades, box blades, lift booms, carry alls, etc., can be converted to CAT-0 use by mounting the smaller 5/8" lift pins facing inward in place of the larger outward facing 7/8" lift pins. Due to the 2000RPM PTO CAT-1 implement that require 540RPM such as mower decks, "brush hogs", rotary tillers, augers, etc. can not be used unless you were to convert the gear box on the implement to account for the higher speed PTO. John Deere made a 60" finish mower for their garden tractors, Model 260, that had a CAT-0 gear box and the smaller inward facing lift pins. The same mower deck was also available in a CAT-1 configuration for use on their larger "Compact utility" tractors. BTW, I have one of the JD model 260 mower decks that I use on my AC620. The deck is very heavy but the 620 handles it with no problem. Here is a link to the photos of my 620.[A href='http://www.simpletractors.com/gallery/km_620.htm']http://www.simpletractors.com/gallery/km_620.htm[/a]

Thanks for the info Kraig. I was interested in finding a box blade for my 4040, it looks like I can use a Cat-1 if I come across a decent used one. Nice 620!
