Sovereign circuit breaker

My Sovereign had a dead battery when I tried to start it the other day. Apparently the kids were playing on it and left the key on which killed the battery because it was powering the carb solenoid circuit. The battery is only about a year old, Interstate MT51R. So I charge it up for 24 hrs with a small Battery tender Jr because my large battery charger is at work. It started up this afternoon but the ammeter was showing charging 15 amps at ammeter and  14 volts on my meter.  After 0 minutes she shuts off. Wait 20 seconds and she starts right back up then shuts off 5 minutes later due to circuit breaker tripping. I can hear it reset after about 20-30 seconds. Put the Battery tender back on it. The battery tender is a trickle charger/ maintainer.   Do you think the breaker is ok? Or should I replace it? The ammeter did not go above 15 amps and the voltage was not above 14 volts. Should I wait till the battery is fully charged because of the high output of the alternator? Feeling a bit frustrated because I need to start using this tractor.

To me if that breaker is tripping as you say , then I would look for a short. I would first make real sure that the battery is fully charged. As I don't know what kind of tractor alternator output you have, sounds to me that that battery is low, and needs to be charged .  I would also carefully check the output of the alternator after you know the battery is charged. . The good news is as the breaker is tripping, it prolee saved other equipment from getting fried.
