littleram8
Hello, I have a 3314H with a Vickers Hydro. I am wondering if there's a way to drain the oil out of the pump and oil cooler? I see that I can take the hose off of the bottom of the reservoir tank to drain the fluid, but does that get all of the oil out?
PhanDad
There is no mention of changing the fluid in the Vickers hydros in either the Simplicity or Homelite operators manuals for tractors with those hydros. Here is the maintenance schedule for a 3416H: The only reference I know about draining the Vickers hydro fluid is from the Simplicity Large Frame Repair Manual, Section 13: And I'd think you'd have to drain, fill, run, and drain again numerous times to completely change the fluid. littleram8
That's what I was thinking. Thanks PhanDad.
MikeES
Draining with the hose will leave about 3/4" of fluid in the bottom of the reservoir, which also holds the fine metal filings that has accumulated. Even after you remove the reservoir it is still hard to clean and get to the bottom area as there is a metal plate to hold the filter off the bottom.
