Rear Wheel Removal on a Coronet

Recommended Posts

Got a call from my father.  He managed somehow to pick up a Roofing Tar paper nail mowing his yard.  A metal head on it, when was the last time they used them...........

Anyhow Lawn mower is a Simplicity Coronet 12.5 hp rider.

Original wheel and tire, probably never been off the axle.

Of course it is stuck.

Started soaking in PB Blaster, 3/16 key is recessed pretty deep into the wheel.

Any tricks besides Heat and Beat?

I could try to fabricate a puller to use after the bearing separator is clamped around the axle, behind inner hub.

Ideas, Please wah

I have had luck to some degree with using wax after heating in place of penetrating oils.  Many like Blaster but I like Kroil & Free-all much better & many swear by 50-50 ATF & Acetone.

The wheels on this little one are held on by a ring clip, and a key takes the torque load.

Trying not to impact on Axle shaft much.  Not sure what the insides the little trans-axle can take.
