Mid pto grief sovereign series

Sonics vac season hooked up my mid drive vacation system and belt started smoking in disengage mode. I was like ***. Whatever engage and get first pass completed and worry later. Well finished first pass and thought I could smell rubber again. Started looking and this is what I found. The back section of pto is doing the shake in and out when running and notice the angle of engagement.  That's an engaged pic. So it looks like rear piece is somehow jacked all up. I've also rolled my drive belt. That may just be age though.  Be honest guys and please don't tell me I need a new bgb. Lol

Not sure on the BGB, but a few things to check,,,,, is the cone on tightly?  If the nut backs out is will cause problems.  If it is, I would take the cone off and check that the parts are all on correctly, keys good, etc.  Finally, check to see that the linkage is all correct and nothing is binding it, etc.  Finally, is the nut, pulley, etc on the drive belt side all tight as it should be?  If all that is good, I would think maybe it is internal to BGB, but I have never had one look like yours so not sure.  I have had all of the things I have mentioned above.

Very hard to determine from this picture, but a few thoughts.  The BGB would have to really be in bad shape to allow so much movement to have such a large misalignment.  And, it appears as though the deck drive belt is properly aligned.  If this seemed to occur just when adding the vac, it would seem maybe the vac isn't installed properly on the rear mount?  Or, maybe a vac issue itself, the driven shaft / pulley?  When you say back section of PTO shaking, if you mean the part that's the engage / disengage bracket, that will bounce around a bit as it is in free floating mode when the clutch is engaged.  That's why it has a spring on the engagement rod.

I would tend to think something is misaligned on the vac setup instead of a clutch BGB issue.  If it were a BGB issue that was as bad as it sounds, you would have noise and all kinds of issues prior to any vac.  Might be the cone clutch, but again, the deck belt looks to be running true.  This just from the one picture and description, so I could certainly be wrong.

My guess would be:

Engagement spring behind PTO could be broken

and/or

PTO bearing inside the pulley could be worn out

Would not hurt to check the cap lining while you are at it too.

Get that all squared away, then make sure that the belt to the vac is in a straight line back from the PTO.  Belt should not veer right or left. Sometimes you can shift the pulley on the vac one way or the other to straighten the belt line up.
