How to replace existing armature with car ignition coil

To get a better spark on my landlord 2110, can you replace the armature with a car ignition coil? If so, does the regulator get removed? What else is involved?

See this post as a starting point:

Assuming you mean voltage "regulator", it stays - it's part of the charging system, not ignition system.

I was hoping to use the electronic ignition & automotive type coil. Accordingly to this article, you cant.

Currently there is no simple plug and play electronic ignition for an external coil system. There are ways to do it but that requires you to piece a system together  your self.

I have a replacement ignition made from mostly automotive  parts. I uses a modified GM PC2 crank sensor for the trigger and a GM LS2 ignition module. See edstoller@earthlink.net   . One can also use a mid 1980s Control Module with a conventional  ignition coil. I make the trigger for that.
