steve-wis Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Hi, So, I am rebuilding a 32 inch tiller. The bearings are bad, I have a fafner number for them to replace them. My question is about the flanges. There are two on each side, they sandwich the bearing o.d. and then are bolted to the tiller. On mine, the bearing is still loose when i have it in the flanges and the flanges tight together. I would think this should be a tight fit. Does anyone have a source for new ones? I found one on ebay but would need four. Otherwise, can I just form the lip that holds the bearing smaller with some creative hammering? Not sure if that will work for long. Or, would the newer bearings, like on the newer 36 inch tillers, work? They are thicker, but I think there might be room for them. Anyone go down this road? On a related subject, the tines are well worn. Would anyone have a set on an old tiller that they would part with? If not, I will use them as they are. Thanks!! Steve
Chris727 Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 I did not think the bearings were interchangeable from the 36 to the 32. Flanges should be available at a tractor supply type of store. 1
