Broken KT 17

I have a 1981 Wheel Horse with a Kohler KT 17 engine. The lower starter tang has broken off, and obviously the starter won't engage. The tractor and engine are in good shape, well worth keeping. Does anyone have I idea how to fit it. Or is there a handheld engine crank available to turn the fly wheel to start it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have looked for a pull start adapter, but couldn't fine one.

Sounds like a C-175

By starter tang, do you mean the threaded stud on the starter or the part of the engine casting it mounts to?

For the others here, its not a tractor issue, just an engine issue. KTs on the Wheel horses are pretty much the same as the KT's on 7100 series and GTH-L's. The exception is that Wheel horse does not drive a driveshaft off the flywheel. They run a belt off the output shaft behind the tractor PTO back to the transmission.

Either weld the tab back on or find a left side gear case.  Find and old KT with a broken rod and it will be a high probably that is has a hole poked in the right gear case (opposite of starter side), so there are plenty of good left side cases out there.
