Yeoman battery

I have my grandparents 1971 Yeoman 637. All original but I did clean up and paint the grill, at some point battery acid had leak and eaten the paint. Which brings me to my question. I’ve always just purchased a battery for it by eye, oh I think that will fit type of thing. I’m not a motorcyclist and don’t know much about those batteries except that they are expensive. Does anyone know what battery was supposed to go in a yeoman? Or do I just measure the area I have to work with? Seems like parts places can only help you if you have a specific vehicle for them to match parts to. The original simplicity parts number is 1657082.
