My throttle nut loosened and the volt meter stopped working so, since I’m working on this area anyway thought I replace the old dash decal. Removed the battery and found the steering wheel needs removed. Power steering tractors have splined shaftIMG_1174.jpeg.c17447fb4506633f270a1794378c6270.jpeg

I pulled the wheel off the metal insert IMG_1176.jpeg.0df1c6366319699211322fdf3074cd3a.jpeg

so used the bearing splitter and new to me Blackhawk pullers again. Note the dash decalIMG_1178.jpeg.970a16535f9f07eca720cb7a23a4de34.jpeg

found this bolt was loose allowing the power steering unit to wiggle wobble

had some old gasket material laying around so used it to separate the battery from the fuel tank strapsIMG_1190.jpeg.0222ca3781543a50eed62c55f588c833.jpeg

JD wheel installed along with new dash decal. May have to spray paint that center cap black.

Yeah that JD logo looks a bit unnatural. It’s fun getting these decals on without bubbles.

Did you use the bearing splitter to remove the steering wheel first?  Or not enough room to get it in there?

Was there originally a decal. Is there a part number for it

This  Sovereign or Allis Chalmers 900 series power steering dash decal – Vintage Reproductions (clickitandstickit.com) is the decal I used because mine is a power steering unit and the hole is offset, unlike the manual steering Sovereign. I had to cut my holes but that was not hard. These are quality stick-on decals, not as heavy as OEM but it'll last I believe.

I didn't get it on perfect. At first stick you are committed so no pulling off and realigning. I did get a few air bubbles that necessitated a pin prick. IDK JD center is a conversation starter I guess.

I did use the bearing splitter to remove steering wheel. I had a cheap pair of 2 jaw pullers I'd bought at an auto parts store some time ago. That puller was junk from day-1 but I used them anyway. Well, the screw had developed a slight bend at the pointed end and it may have been the reason I dented the metal tower cover. Nonetheless I pulled the wheel off the metal center so I just bought a JD 318 steering wheel replacement. One thing I like about the JD wheel is the center cap is O-ringed to keep out moisture. Used Locktite anti-seize when assembling.
