Back40 Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Hi all, I'm having a hard time finding the belt size to drive a front mount weed cutter and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. Looks like the oem PN is 2108151 but I can't seem to find the belt trade size, trade number, or length. A quick mounting question too, I can't tell if the cutter is suppose to be pinned to the tractor in 4 places or just the rear 2. I see holes that look like they almost align with brackets on the front of the tractor but it diesnt quite look like they are straight on. Or it looks like the bracket could 'hang' on the front axle by 'wrapping' above it. This is the last piece of a build and I'm looking forward to testing the impliment. I appreciate any insight you might have. Thanks much! Back40 Since everyone loves photos! 6 Quote
bowhunt4life Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 (edited) I assume you have the manual, in the manual the belt is identified as part Q #108151. #108151 is 1/2" by 63". Just and observation and completely your choice as the owner of the weedcutter, but the face plate should have carriage bolts 5/16"-18, these will cut down on catching debris and adding additional drag, in my opinion. PhanDad Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Wow, that's a beauty! The hitch hangs on the front axle and pins in the back just as the FDT snowblower does. From the SB Op manual: Simplicity belt # 10151 is 63" long and 1/2 cross section per an old Simplicity Belt and Blade Reference. 6 Quote
PhanDad Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 @bowhunt4life I'm not a weed cutter owner, but for the FDT snowblowers, having the belt guide "fingers" is important for keeping the belt where it should be. I would think the same is true for a weed cutter? Also, shouldn't the engine pulley be mounted hub out? The FDT snowblower drive pulley is mounted hub out as shown above. Quote
Back40 Posted June 7, 2024 Author Posted June 7, 2024 Thanks for the replies, gents! @bowhunt4life, Most of the bolts sheared when disassembling. I thought I recalled looking at another rebuild thread, something about the square portion I'd the carriage bolt being too tall. I suppose a washer or two could solve this. I hadnt thought about material getting caught, ill have to get these swapped out. @PhanDad thanks for yoir responce as well! Good eye on the pulley, I'll get that turned around. And thanks for the mounting images, good to know I have it right. I'll see if I have these fingers around. The guy I bought it from did an excellent job making sure every part needed was there. I'm sure it's around somewhere if it's needed. Thanks again! Back40 Quote

You will definitely want the belt fingers for the pto pullet or your belt will keep jumping off the pulley. 2 Quote
gwiseman Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 1/2x63 What I’ve been using. I seem to burn up a few due to sticks etc getting in between belt & pulley but I mow in the woods surrounding our house. I really need a brush cutter🤫 4 Quote
