Sunstar hydro pump failure and options?

So I picked up a Duetz 1920 last fall. It’s the one now being used for my loader project and foot pedal hydro conversion. I’ve already swapped the bad rear end out. My question is can I save the 2 speed locking diff by taking the pump off my sunstar 16 single speed rear end?

Failed rear end symptoms. No motion of any kind jacked up, no PS of any kind either. My only reason for asking is for storage or discard purposes.

I'm no expert by any means. But if it were mine, I'd pull the charge pump and make sure the drive pin is in the center gear and not sheered.

Being that you have no power steering and I'm guessing no hydro lift working,  the charge pumps job is to build pressure to run steering and lift and to keep fluid supplied to the hydrostat as well.

If the charge pump don't work, Nothing works. And just so you know. The charge pump housing is eye shaped with one end having a flat spot. If that flat is on the wrong side, you get nothing. (reverse rotation maybe ?) I just ran into that problem with my Sunstar. I reversed mine because of what the parts manual said. And as I said in my post about it, I don't know if this was because there were more than one pump used (Different MFG number than my unit) Or maybe someone replaced the pump.

The long and short being that if the charge pump looks good and the pin is not broken or missing,  Try putting the flat to the other side before you give up on the Sunstrand. Those units are tough as nails IMO.

I hope to pull a spare unit I have down and try to figure out what the deal is behind the flat going to the left or right. But that may take a while to get to. To many irons in the fire.

Good luck with yours.

Well guys I’m looking for the front pump seal part number. My dealer claims he can’t find it.
