Does anyone have any background on the AC Compact tractors 5000 and/or 6000 series tractors? When were they made? How long was the run of manufacturing the tractors? They were imports I believe. Where were they built? Is there many of those units out there? Steve

Tuffy, I believe they were a Korean import and were made for 2 or 3 "domestic" manufacturers. The John Deere 4100 series is also an import. They only make the 4200 and up here (Augusta, GA?). The 4100 is very similar to the AGCO model and may very well be the same machine. Beyond that, I don't know about dependability or features.

The 5000 series were made by fiat in the 70s and the 6000 series were made by allis chalmers up until they went out of bussiness in 1985. agco918 CHAD E SHAFER(AGCO918)

The full line of compact tractors included the 5030,5020,5020FWA, 5015 and 5015 FWA. They were revised in 1985 and continued as the Deutz-Allis 5200 series. These tractors were Japanese, maufactured by Toyosha corporation who also sold the units under the Hinimoto brand name. As Chad explained the 5040, 5045, and 5050 were Fiat built tractors. Actually the 5040 was built by UTB under license from Fiat of Italy, in Romania. The 5045 (replaced the 5040 in 1981) and 5050 were built in Italy. The 5040 is an ok unit, but the true Italian models were a little higher quality (better built). The 6000's have a little quirk too. The 6040, replaced the 160 in 1974. It like the 160 were built by Renault. This was A-C's 40 H.P. French Connection. A 6140 was imported from Toyosha in the 80's which was a 41H.P..... big brother to it's 5000 series imports. The rest of the 6000's as Chad mentioned were all A-C West Allis built. The 6060 and 6080 came in both 2wd and fwd versions. Fiat supplied the poweretrains along with the 3-point hitch and fwa axels for these two units. The 6070 replaced the 6060 with a little more H-P. A 6070 model, serial number 1972 was the last tractor that ever rolled off the Allis-Chalmers assembly line. December 6, 1985. A sad day in West Allis!
