Blown head gasket

Well I've started the tear down on replacing the blown head gasket on my 93/94 sovereign. I had contemplated tearing the other head off just to take a look, and now I pretty much have to. I snapped off two bolt heads removing the plate with all the linkages on it. I'll take the head into work and drill them out on a mill, make short work of it. My question is are the gasket sets pretty much all the same for a Magnum 18? The sticker with the engine info is gone so I have no numbers to work with.PXL_20240808_225501800.thumb.jpg.5367deb62a321d5115fa0e2a2c4754d7.jpgPXL_20240808_230304901_MP.thumb.jpg.f12eeacbb511b3a909ba62acbe563100.jpg

The 1993-97 Sovereigns were powered by the Kohler Command CH18-62513. The head gaskets are P/N is 24 841 01-S. Also replace the head bolts, P/N 62 086 08-S.

When the head gaskets go on my Sovereign Commands, I am going to switch to copper head gaskets with head studs and nuts. I used them on my Command build.

I know there's a lot of junk sets out there. Who are some of the trusted sources you guys use for gasket sets and other parts?

If using an OEM style gasket, use only Kohler parts. I have done a lot of business with SEPW and I know the people. If pursuing the copper gasket route let me know.

👍Are the valves adjustable on this engine CH18 62513, I see what looks to be maybe an adjusting bolt

Command engines have hydraulic lifters, therefore no adjustment.

Download the Command Service Manual from the Kohler website. Follow the lifter bleed down procedure. Then with the rocker arms off the valve stems, torque the rocker arm pivot bolts to spec. Then by hand or using a rocker arm lifting tool, lift and rotate the rockers arms onto the valve. Kind of rough on the hands.
