I'm trying to find out what the original battery specs were, as in CA and CCA. It's in the size 51 group, that's all I know.

Thanks in advance.

Bill beat me to the response, yes original was 22NF.

All of the large frame tractors, not sure about earliest one though.  725, B1 etc

Thanks Y'all, I almost plunked down 200 bucks for a 51 group battery. My father in law gave me the tractor a long time ago, and it's been sitting in the shop for a long time. Acouple of weeks ago I decided to get it running and use it to run around the yard doing odds and ends.I changed Spark plugs, air filters and fuel filter with a couple of fuel hoses. I charged the battery optimistically, knowing better. Anyway the battery was an autocraft silver. Replacement with the same kind of battery would cost $199.99. So thanks for the info. It's very much appreciated.

Bought from them before, 15% off.  Or A Menards, Farm and Fleet, TSC, but prices vary by location.

I have been using the 51r because they have a better warranty being an automotive battery and Rural King locally has them for $69.00.

Yup they sure do.

But I usually get 4-5 years on a battery. So the lack of warranty is not a problem on my part.

I try to buy DEKA or other name brands.

From our local Batterywarehouse, made up the road a bit in Lyon Station, PA.

About an hour from my place, that's pretty local in my mind.

Yea, I'd be all over that, maybe he meant $169.00.

There is no way I could afford to keep group 22 or 51 batteries in all my machines of this type. Many of them have L&G 235 amp batteries. I buy them at Rural king now for less than $30 each. They last a couple of years for me but I don't have the harsh winters most of you likely have.
