GregB Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 (edited) Got the 7117H back together and no leaking on the BGB Seals 😁 But the hydro is real sensitive to lever movement, and for some reason the lever was shortened. ??? So lever does not go into the neutral detent, and it also drifts (needs roller replace and adjusted) Got to fix that but....... But before I could finish this, the deck on my mowing/vacuum 17 GTH-L tractor took a dump. Threw a belt, the top pulley was loose on the shaft. Trashed shaft and Adapter. Surprisingly the key looked OK. So I spent a bunch of time replacing the oversize rollers on the 48" deck that came with the 71117H with the correct diameter rollers. New Belt, then used the PECO mounted bagger to pick up leaves. Its like "when you're up to your neck( or another body part) in alligators, it's hard to remember that your initial objective was to drain the swamp" Sometimes seems like I'm just treading water, and not making any progress. GregB Posted September 23, 2024 Author Posted September 23, 2024 Tried a couple of online suppliers seems like that number is discontinued. Went to your supplier from the bag in the other post picture: And they list it, but have a minimum order amount of $35 I am going to try to turn one or two up on the lathe this afternoon using some Delrin. GregB Posted September 23, 2024 Author Posted September 23, 2024 Already on order, but thanks for the follow up. Since the replacement hydro lever arrived, and roller bushings tomorrow, that's the next thing on my list. Since it raining here steadily I'll get started on that this afternoon. Maybe still play on the lathe though. Quote

That led to the arbor belt being thrown. I thought it was an issue with the idler (frozen bushing or spring issue). After a check of bushing/pivot and several iterations of spring replacement and "adjustment" I noticed the center pulley rising up when installing the belt. I never occurred to me to check the nut(s). No damage except to the ego - just one of many over the years. 1 Quote
GregB Posted September 24, 2024 Author Posted September 24, 2024 Shortened hydro lever replaced, along with modified guide plate. Think i found the source of the hydro creep, guess it needs replaced. Waiting on USPS and UPS for parts. I also tightened the BGB bolts to the frame. Not dangerously lose but probably an 1/8-1/4 to make all four tight. 2 Quote
GregB Posted September 24, 2024 Author Posted September 24, 2024 New bushing from McMaster installed. A lot of slop everywhere, cam slot; one end of shaft cam rides on also. A few notes to self, make sure hydro bypass valve slider is in up position 🙄 Did the cam following position alignment. Manual is not to specific as to neutral spot on cam track. Then did the drift front or back adjustment. Couple tries i finally got it set. 2 Quote
GregB Posted August 17, 2025 Author Posted August 17, 2025 Back on this inherited 7117H. After exhaustive reading yesterday, found there is centering marks on the back side of the cam follower plate. Come to find out the operators manual has a pretty clear picture of it. Found the lines after I cleaned off the accumulation of crud. But there was not enough adjustment to get cam centered. I ended up pulling the linkage and putting the spring cage on the mill and lengthened the slot. Back together, adjusted, and also did the fine adjustment process for creep. Got it pretty good, have to lube it up and use it to see. I did find this when I pulled the deck to get to the linkage: Luckily pulley stayed in place so no damage done. Brother in-law had been mowing with it since I fixed the BGB and Rollers and never noticed it.............Of course it looks like he never cleaned off the deck either. 3 Quote
