Yeoman Snow Throw Rookie Question

Rookie in the Club. --- My eyes are spinning with glee. I live in Green Bay -- snow country and have always dreamed of Thrower. I never thought I could hang one on the good ole' Yeoman. I have a snow blade, but it is not useful in the heavier stuff (or I gotta find how to get more traction). I got a very used Yeoman 12 years ago and it has been a superb lawn machine. Model "627". Mfg. Ident. No. 990578. (I re-engined to 8 hp). Question#1: does this make my Yeoman a 1969 ? Question #2: is 32" the correct snow thrower width ? Question #3: is part # 990477 the correct and only thrower to fit ? Q #4: are p/n 990419 and 990293 o.k. as well without mods. ? Q#5: what about p/n 990562 ? Q#6: 32" thrower p/n 1690034 appears to require a kit 106812. What is this and do I want to do it ? Evidently, attachments from different model years and model tractors are somewhat compatible. Some ads say "thrower off of a 717 but now on a 728". I am ready to persue your classified's but what can I use? Would the seller have a "part number" on the nameplate to verify matchup ? Wow, what a site. Maybe buy another tractor -- or more attachments. // Curt2Deep

To answer one question...The snow blower from a 717, 728 will fit your yeoman. You can refer to this page below in the what fits section for the snowblower to see if it will fit. But the hitch and blower are the same as my 717. http://www.simpletractors.com/what_fits/atch_(pg36).htm To find out what else fits refer to the main page in the what fits section below. Curt. You might want to look at this snowblower attachment in the for sale section. He is also in Wisconsin like us. http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/classDetail.asp?id=717

Kris, Thanks again for the great information on: what fits my Yeoman; and the pointers to the what fits pages. Also, the second classified in Wisconsin. I will check out both ads; since both in easy driving distance. Your 717 restoration photos and this wonderful club are inspiring me. My trusty 627 stays for good. I may have to shop for a second "orange tractor" project. Curt2Deep

Gerhard, Thanks for the great pictures of your Snow-Thrower and mounting bracket. I just found the Club yesterday and got great help immediately from the alert and helpful "KSever". PS--I also saw your site late last night and your FANTASTIC Yeoman restoration. --- It is excellent ! --- Thank you for pix. The Gerhard-Music sounds good on my Harmon/Kardon subwoofer. Have had my Yeoman 627 since 1987. Good luck, Curt Fahlstrom -- Curt2Deep@msn.com

Have you done anything with the rear tires to increase traction? Chains, filled tires? I built a set of chains for my 210. Just went to Quality (now TSC) and bought some bulk chain and used a bunch of repair links to hold everything together. It makes a lot of difference.

Steve at Stoneheartfarm, Thanks for the traction idea. I have not tried chains---but will try to buy or build like you suggested. Will investigate how to add rear weight, or wheel weight. Never thought of filled tires. Thought that was only for the big farm rigs --but it should help. PS I hail from Green Bay WI but our family camp is in the U.P. (have U.P. roots) so I am a part time Michigander. Curt2Deep

The chains were relatively easy to make. I did have to add a triangle of plumber's tape (pipe hanger tape) across the outside of the wheels to keep the chains from coming off. SHF
