540RPM Sunstar front PTO

Hey guys inpicked this up a few months back. In another article SmilenSam said he didn't even know that Sunstar had a 540 front PTO so I'm going to share this with all of you. I have no idea what attachments it would be for except maybe aftermarket sweeper,  Generator, and perhaps the tractor has enough power to run a agriculture ditch pump for farms. Co sidering the size tractor farmers around me use for that I'd be amazed if the tractor could do it.

I acquired a NOS unit a couple of months ago on eBay.  🙂

That reduction unit is apparently a Jacobsen unit which also used by Deere, Jacobsen, and others.  I found a NOS Jacobsen reduction unit a few years ago and have continued to search for a Simplicity Sunstar 540 RPM PTO setup until now to fab a similar setup for my use.

FYI, I think these were used mainly for small haybale elevators and PTO driven generators.

Are these similar to Hen's teeth?   Asking for a friend.

I had begun to think that they did not even exist until I found the NOS unit. (15+ years!) When I looked at the gears in the reduction unit it appeared the ratio did not work out to generate 540 RPM.  I conjectured that while it was in the parts book, it had never been manufactured or released.  Now we know of at least 2 in-the-wild!
