MDD 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2002 I am in the process of reassembling my AC 720. Does anyone have any advice on reconnecting hydraulic lines? Should one use any kind of thread tape or pipe compound?
Dutch 4 Report post Posted June 26, 2002 Thread sealant is not needed or advisable on connections using flared or "o" ring connections. Sealant is needed on pipe fittings.
acjohn 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2002 Dutch is correct. The teflon tape or thread sealant is used on NPT fittings to reduce friction and allow you to sufficiently tighten the fittings to slightly deform the threads and allow the tapers to mate tightly and provide a good seal.
