Simplicity Mower Deck Question...Part 2

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the responses so far on my arbor question-I guess I could have been more specific about the problem, so here goes: It looks like the whole spindle arbor assembly has been replaced before, as it does not have a grease fitting like the other two on the deck, indicating a sealed bearing assembly. However, the real problem is that the arbor housing itself has torn, so the part I need is the housing. Again, I've no way of identifying it. I've been to the local Simplicity dealer with no luck, since the deck is not original to the tractor and thus the deck model number for the Landlord on the MicroFiche is different from the deck I am using.

I also have a Simplicity Yeoman 616, (a cute little thing)with a full manual which makes finding parts for that a breeze, so any leads on photocopied or original manuals would be appreciated.

I am making a guess that 108679 would be a start. This one has the grease hole and looks to be a faily common part number. You might also want to compare your Yeoman arbor to the one you have. Could be the same thing as Simplicity is good for this. My Broadmoor and Landlord have the same arbors and I have have kept some old arbors from scrapped out decks and now have arbors rebuilt and handy in case I need one.

It sounds like the original "one piece" housing has been replaced with the newer "two piece" style which was used with a conversion retro-fit kit. The newer "two piece" style would use the deck mounting bolts to also attach both housings together. Ask your dealer to pull out a set of the upper and lower housings for a 36" 4211 Regent and see if that is what you are after. There are only the two different kinds. Yours may also have separate aluminum spacer ring(s) sandwiched between the arbor and the housing - also indicating that it is a retro-fit kit. Just reuse them if this is the case.

BTW - grease fitings on the arbors do not mean to grease it until you see grease come out - ALL Simplicity arbor bearings are the "sealed" type. Over greasing the housings will "pop" the seals and defeat their purpose - which is to keep dirt out - NOT water - so don't "hose down your bearings! :)
