New engine for Simplicity 3416H

Well, the Briggs single cylinder 16 hp engine self destructed last weekend. Complete lower end melt down. It will cost me as much to fix this engine as it will to replace it with a new V twin 16hp from Briggs. Has anybody re-engined this tractor or similar? Got any other engine suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Here is a place. Also go to the home page of simpletractors.com and click on the Small engine warehouse advertisement for their version. I do not know of any folks north of the border though. Good luck and I would like to know how you make out. I also have one of these with the same oppurtunity for improvement. Just haven't jumped on one yet. http://www.repowereng.com/ http://www.smallenginewarehouse.com/default.asp ScottS

I repowered my 3410 Landlord.I took out the original 10 hp Briggs, and installed a NOS 11hp Briggs,1985 model, purchased from EBay.It was pretty straightforward. I was a little apprehensive on trying this, but the great people here helped me get through it.Answered all my questions, and gave me the confidence I needed.Runs like a champ now! kenny

Got four tractors. None have original engines, none are original size. Changeovers are not hard, but there always some little problems that cause a pain in the neck. Rod H.
