Mott hammer knife mower

Recommended Posts

Guest wdeturck
I have aquired a mott hammer knife mower and I think the brakets I got with it is AC. Mott is still in bussiness but can't give me any information on this mower made in the 1960's. I am going to attempt to post a picture of the mower and bracketry I am trying to identify. I would like to find the brackets for my Cub but want to identify what I have. and and here is an ad for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Simplicity did offer a Mott mower for at least the 2012. Maybe Simplicity would still have some info. Here's a link. http://www.simpletractors.com/simplicity/1967_2012/implements.htm The Mott mower must be rare (unpopular - dangerous - ?). I believe 1 or 2 other members own one. Before you modify it to work on a Cub, consider it's value to a collector.

I have a Mott mower with a tongue & ball hitch. I made a offset hitch bracket so I could pull it behind my Sears GT 20. The Mott is a 43" cut width and the Sears is 44". Parts of my lawn are uneven and the Mott had a tendency to scalp the high spots so I gave up on that idea even though I could cut an 80" swath. The Mott has an 8 HP Briggs on it and it is a 70's vintage machine. Dick

The Mott mower concept is still used today for cutting grass along highways, It is probally safer than a bladed mower but never became popular. I am attemting to identify the bracketry so I can swap or get it to a collector and get or make my own brackets. This 32" mower is made for Cubs, AC and others. Down load the files as there is an original ad for this mower. Thanks for the input.
