728 Broadmoor crankshaft pulleys

Recommended Posts

Can anyone post a picture of how the pulleys that go on the end of the crankshaft, belt stops, and drive belt should go on a 1971 simplicity 728 broadmoor? I need to get this back together so I can mow my grass! Thanks Bob

Don't have one at the moment for a picture but the smaller diameter pulley goes on first to drive the tranny and the larger of the two goes on second. Not much space between the two. Line the bottom one up on the engine shaft with the mower PTO belt guide to the front of the tractor so when the belt is looped around the pulley and pulled tight it clears the guide up and down wise. Seems to me there was a couple of belt stop rods for the tranny too that fit on the rear engine mount bolts. You will just have to play with working the clutch pedal by hand till you get belt stops in position so the belt pops slightly off the pulley when the clutch is engaged. I know a picture is worth 1000 words but I'm doin the best I can with what I have......... Sam
