Do Dayton Lawn Tractors Ring any Bells???

Recommended Posts

Les
Dayton is the registered trademark for WW Grainger Company. I have not looked at a Grainger catalog lately, but I know for sure they were still selling garden tractors in the mid 1990's. The ones I have seen were made by MTD.

I think Les is right -- they were made by MTD... I've only seen one Dayton. It was bigger than a Sovereign, about the size of the biggest Case/Ingersolls, with tall rear wheels. It looked like a very heavy-duty TOUGH tractor. It had a 16HP Briggs single, hydraulics, category 0 3-point, front and rear PTOs, a High/Low speed range on either a 3 or 4 speed tranny, individual rear brakes (I think), perhaps even a locking diff, etc.... I was VERY surprised that it was made by MTD when I researched it. If parts were more widely available, I might have gone for it... The foot-draggin' Clubhouse Custodian...
