Does anyone know if a simplicity snow thrower 36" model 1690547 will fit a 1987 model 5212.5H? this snow thrower came off a 6211 and before i buy and make the long drive to get it i kind of want to know if it will fit. can someone point me in the right direction? This 5212.5h is believed to be a 1987 and the 6211 was around an 82. I checked the chgart on this site but it is for older tractors not this 5212.5H. What a nice tractor this thing is. It's as close to brand new as you can get. Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

Jim, The spec sheet that came with my 5212.5 shows the following for this model: 1) 1691521 - Snowthrower, 36" (requires 1690556 Hitch & 1691467 Lift Lever). Sugg. Retail $645.00, ship weight 128lbs. 2) 1691522 - Snowthrower, 42" (requires 1690556 Hitch & 1691467 Lift Lever). Sugg. Retail $725.00, ship weight 136lbs. The spec sheet is dated, August 1, 1998. These snowthrowers also fit the 6500 series (I have the 6500 spec sheet also). I don't know about the 1690547 you asked about. I can't find that number in any of my 5200 or 6500 series literature. It should fit both take the same hitch. As stated before most attachments will fit with the correct hitch The big difference being large frame tractor verses a small frame tractor and a vertical shaft motor verses a horizontal shaft motor. This link has a vertical shaft motor hitch for a 6000 series which I think will fit a 5000 series tractor http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2050904471 This & $1.00 might get you a small Coffee Maynard aka/UCD

I believe this hitch will fit the 5000 series tractor. I know for sure it my 4000 series. I was told it fit from the 4000 to the 6000 series in the book. Kris

Hi, If the blower fits the 6000 family it should work on the 4000 and 5000 family also. There is one thing to check. The rear hanger for the hitch is shorter for the 4000 and longer for the 5 and 6000. Now I am having second thoughts. anyway it is just a small bracket and on the 4000 the spindles are shorter than the 5&6 group otherwise they will switch around. We have swapped the earlier blowers back and forth most of the difference is in the shape of the chute, the number change to 1521 and 22 is a model year move. Often the attachment model numbers stay the same until something is changed. Often it is a small change, sometimes cosmetic. With the exception of putting a 42 or 48" ower on the 4000, or a tiller on the 4 and 5000 most of the 4,5and 6000 attachments interchange. The 6100 and 6220 tillers will not fit the 6500s and 16 and 17 GTHs Do not confuse the 17 GTH with the 17GTHL Both were made the same year. The GTH is a 6500 the GTHL is the same as a 7117H [next yr called the Sovereign] which has hydraulic lift. hence the L to identify the units. NOT one of Simplicity"s brightest moves. Imagine customers that don't even know what they have and having to sort this mess out. Good Luck, Al Eden

Al, The only thing I had to do to this hitch was reverse the angle hanger bracket on top, take out the shim that was there for the 6000 series tractor this was on,and move the pulleys up one notch as stated in the manual to fit my 4111. Kris

Hi, The little bracket I am referring to is the little hanger that hangs the hitch to the little stub on the wishbone of the front axle. It is only about 1 1/2 or 1 1/2 inches long and attaches to the hitch with 2 bolts. When the hitches were new both of these brackets were in the box and you used the one that matched the tractor you were putting it on. Good luck, Al Eden

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
