B-1 tractor information

D21Puller
I have recently purchased a B-1 tractor and need to find out what year it is. The serial number is 9078. Can anyone tell me the year for sure? I also need a complete original engine for it. The original Briggs & Stratton has been replaced with a Tecumseh 10 h.p.. This tractor also has the original white canvas canopy or "weather cab" that is very brittle and fragile do to age. Does anyone have one NOS, or will I have to have one made at an upholstery shop?

Simplicity often produced exactly the same tractor for more than one year. Check out this link > http://www.simpletractors.com/Main/made_when.htm For the engine and weather cab, post a "Wanted" in the classified section. You may get lucky. I have three 725's which are the Simplicity counterpart to the B-1. http://www.simpletractors.com/X-reference/ac_s_pg1.htm One is running and I have not tried the other two. If you want to consider using one of these engines(they have the wrong paint, but you can fix that) contact me. I also have an original Model 23 B&S (9 HP) from an A-C (Early)B-10 that still has the yellow paint under a coat of black that is flaking off. I have not tried that one either, it came with a Landlord parts machine that I got for the wheels. Look in the Registry for 934 and 935 to see engine numbers. I uploaded pics but they're not showing. I PM'd Kent about it.

As far as I know, the early (9HP) B-10 replaced the B-1 in 1964... so I'd guess it is a 1963... The foot-draggin' Clubhouse Custodian...

http://www.simpletractors.com/models/ac_b-series.htm Take a look at the link. The A-C tractors are also listed in the Cross Reference Table on the ST site so you can see the Simplicity counterpart. The B-10(9HP) came before the Big Ten and is known as an early B-10. The B-10(10HP) came after the Big Ten and is known as a late B-10.
