johnsup 0 Posted September 12, 1999 My 7012 loses power partially into mowing my lawn but there is no smoking. If I quickly shut my pto off, lower throttle, and go to neutral she will idle wonderfully,if I am to slow she will die. Will a bad coil cause this?Carb. adjustment? Thanks for all your help!! JohnA 0 Posted September 12, 1999 Check the carb. and manifold for being loose. Also check carb. maifold gasks. for leaking air. Or it could be just a dirty carb./carb adj. too! Sounds like a fuel prob. not ignition to me. dlc
tej 1 Posted September 14, 1999 I agree with DLC on the air leak. If you have a small air leak the motor will idle fine but when the governer opens up to run the deck or blower the gas mixture leans out and the engine stops. Been there, experienced that. Guest Posted September 30, 1999 I agree with the air leak to, however damaged compression ring could cause your problem with little or no smoke. Check to see if you can turn engine over by hand with not to much effort. If you can, time for rings.
