johnsup
I just took ownership of a 728 Broadmoor. After one lap around the yard it seemed to be starving for gas. I also had to run with the choke almost all the way "on." As it started to stall, I moved the choke to fully "on" and it ran for another minute or so. (It does not run at all with the choke in the "off" position) Eventually it stalled on me. I could get it restarted, but then it stalls again (after repeating the same procedure as above). I changed the spark plug but that did not help. It has new gas it in too. Does anyone have any suggestions so I can fix this problem? -Jon
JohnA
The three most apparent problems would be high speed needle valve not adjusted, water in carb bowl and lastly a plugged fuel line. Until these are checked out it is hard to narrow down.
JohnA
Once in a while the main jet will also come loose inside and cause the mixture to starve. This should also be checked if you have to keep readjusting the high speed mixture which is located on the bottom of the bowl.
Guest
Jon, I had the same problem in a new (to me) Deutz. Do a search on "Engine won't run with choke off. There was a lot of junk in the bottem of the float bowl and after the prescribed cleaning it runs like a top (except that the air filter is so clogged it barely runs, next on the list) Also, I found the spring on the main jet adjustment barely holds enough tension to keep it set. I reconditioned it (stretched) and it seemed nice and snug now. Hope this helps, Warren
