Powermax brake alternatives

Recommended Posts

Given the trouble with powermax / AC equivalent brakes, has anyone on here divised an alternative braking system (in particular: parking brakes)? I have been giving it some thought (still thinking) but it should be possible to rig a hydro or manual parking brake that would put tension / pressure against one or both rear tires to hold it even on a steep hill. Dane Scag commercial mower use a manual design that you step on to pivot a bar into the tire, step on other side to release bar (kinda like a hydro foot control for forward / reverse). Any input or ideas?

I built a pulling tractor with the rotors from a motorcycle bolted to the back side of the wheel hubs with individual hydraulic brakes on each wheel. didn't have a parking brake, though. I suppose you could lock a brake lever down with some type of latch. Rod H.

Unless the hydraulics hold 100% all the time, you will need some type of mechanical brake for a parking brake I think. All the ones I can think of are that way.

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁

It's in pretty sad shape, but yes I have a yellow plastic cap that I'm fairly certain is what you need. PM me your details and I'll get it out to you.
