6516 mower deck

I have a 6516H that I recently rebuilt the deck on
and have had some trouble with the belt slipping off
while mowing?! My deck is a Rt hand discharge, and
has three pulleys (48"). My question is, does the
tallest of the three pulleys go on the PTO side of
the belt pattern (non-discharge side) or does it go
on the discharge side, and could that be why the belt
keeps slipping off?

On a side note, is $450 too much to have paid for this
mower, given I had to rebuild the deck for about $350
in parts (new arbors, blades, a couple of pulleys)?

Jeff I can'tt say anything about the way the belts run but from what others have said about buying mower decks I would say you paid a high price. I paid $475 for mine and it had been rebuilt. Best to ya-Jason

Taller pulley goes on left (PTO) side. I'd say you paid top dollar - but at least you have one and it is worth keeping - just take a look at that beautifully cut lawn:) The outside pulleys should have covers to help keep the belts on and the engine pulley should have two guards about 1/8" away - where is the belt coming off?
