Need engine information on AC 610

I need to know the make and model number of the engine for an AC 610 L&G tractor. I would like to know where I might purchase an engine and approximate price. Thanks. DAN

Is this a vertical or horizontal shaft engine?

Dan, by cross-referencing the AC 610 to the equivalent Simplicity 5010, then checking the Engine Reference, I come up with:

Briggs and Stratton model 251707, type 0149-01

Engine is 10 HP Briggs vertical shaft, with gear starter and flywheel alternator, a fairly standard engine which is now out of production. It's replacement is now a 12HP which is same size and current. A complete engine will run you anywhere from $540 to $750 list depending if you want to go from the run of the mill engine to a more premium one. Out on the East coast, Jeff Nemes or DLC might steer you on to some rebuildable units or have some running unit they might want part with.
