DECALS

I am in the process of restoring an AC B-12 and am trying to locate decals. I did find one vendor but he wants $110.00 for the set. that's $110.00 more than I paid for the tractor. My WD decals were only $35.00. Any suggestions? Mike Mattingly

I've also noticed that decals for these tractors are extremely high (compared to the $32.00 I spent for my WD decals and $37.50 for my CA). I need the "7018 Hydrostatic" decal for my tractor, but don't want to spend $75 up to have it made. What is the reason for the high cost? Is it perhaps because they are not mass-produced, as the decals for antique farm tractors are, or is there another reason? Just wondering. DaveM

The high prices are likely the result of: 1. Small demand -- I wonder how many sets/year are sold for each model 2. Limited shelf life -- according to Simplicity, decals will only last "on the shelf" for 5-7 years before they deteriorate due to exposure to light & air... Bottom line is very small production runs and a lot of setup time per run.... The foot-draggin' Clubhouse Custodian...

I agree with Kent,I don't think there is enough demand for them.Another thing to consider when you have them made up is that they are probably making them out of vinyl which is alot better quality than originals.I am restoring a Massey Ferguson garden tractor right now and I have found a complete set of vinyl decals for $77 which I think is a good price as there are at least 12 decals for this thing. My understanding is when you have them made up it takes a while to get it set up to make them. But once its set up there is nothing to printing out a few sets.Your cost is the inital set up.Might try finding someone to split cost with you if you have to have them made.Or make up a few sets and put them on Ebay to pay for your set.Might be worth checking into. mowerman1193

The other type of decals which are more affordable is overlaid vinyl. I have had the left and right hood decals made for about $20. For your B-12; the vinyl letters would be on top of a cream background rather than "printed" into the cream colored vinyl. You can't tell the difference, unless you slide your hand or fingers across the decal and feel that the letters are raised. Good Luck! Mike S.
