OK, MY SERIAL NO IS 2958. ON THE SIDE IT SAYS B10, ON THE GRILL B12, ON THE SERIAL PLATE UNDER THE SEAT B12.WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO BY PARTS? I FOUND THE DECK IN SOME WEEDS. STILL LOOKING FOR THE STARTER. I ALSO FOUND SOME CULTIVATORS. THE SICKLE BAR WILL HAVE TO BE REBUILT. WHERE CAN I GET AN ENGINE REBUILD KIT? PLEASE HELP.

Sounds like someone has combined parts at some time. Serial numbers are of little/no value with these oldies, since no record of production exists that we know of. If it has wide front wheels and a seat like this, it is likely a B-12. You can determine the size of the engine if you can find the serial number on it. If it is a 243431 then it is a 10HP engine, if it is 300401 then it is a 12HP engine. The foot-draggin' Clubhouse Custodian...

Hi 328, this pic. may help you identify your engine if the numbers can not be found. The one on the left is a 10 and the one on the right is a 12. The only visible difference is the bolt pattern for the front plate (10hp is missing the plate but the bolt pattern is clearly different and I assume the plate is a different shape, too). Just picked them up, so, I'm not familiar with these, hopefully, one of the other members can say if this is true of all 10 and 12's.....HTH..LOL....Art
