arjr111 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2002 I bought this oldie, to restore. It actually runs. I drove it around the yard over the summer. I don't have the equipment to do the job right. Really should be sandblasted...
Kent 425 Report post Posted November 26, 2002 Maynard, That kind of reminds me of an older version of a Swisher, except that one looks like it's rear wheel drive. I had an old Swisher 5HP about 15 years ago in Utah. It was front wheel drive, built like a tank and an absolute blast to drive. Very primitive though, the one I had didn't have ANY WAY of adjusting cutting height. Their 3-wheelers are still made, though they're better known for their trailing mowers. The 3-wheelers are great for flat lots, but I wouldn't try to use them on a slope at all... johnmonkey 4 Report post Posted November 26, 2002 I won't say they are ugly, but they are shy about showing their beauty. They just are not as classy looking as my AC 710, simp 700, or my MW gardenmark. John H (you can tell I don't kmnow much about beauty cause I got a 1948 Studebaker Truck)
Kent 425 Report post Posted November 26, 2002 I know what you mean, John. That Strunk tractor even has running boards....:o) Would make a really neat "show" tractor, though....
arjr111 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2002 My eleven year old would love that little swisher mower. I had no idea anyone still made the three wheelers. Probably, made for the suburbs. Wonder if they actually sell many and what they go for..
Kent 425 Report post Posted November 26, 2002 The Swishers are about $1500, which isn't that bad when you consider what a new Murray or MTD goes for. They're heavy, tough suckers -- the deck is made out of 1/8" plate steel. With the front wheel drive, the steering wheel turns completely round and round, so they're actually more maneuverable than a ZTR. They're rear-discharge, so you can trim right up next to a tree on either side. Once you get the hang of it, you can easily mow around a 6" tree with no problems, for example... I had about a dozen fruit trees in the lawn, and my son acted like they were pylons on a test track or something.... He had a ball with it!
arjr111 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2002 They must be pretty good, or very rare, don't recall ever seeing one on the used market!

PGL 132 Report post Posted November 27, 2002 Those running boards in the picture look like skis - are you sure this isn't an early snowmobile?
