720 modifacations, moving the Battery

Here is one that went through my mind this evening. What about building a cross box between the fenders behind the seat and make the crossbox look like a fuel tank on the XT 190's, which is what the 720 looks like anyhow. You could use a narrow battery and run long cables from the back up to the front. Then top it off with a AC decal on the back of it. I think it can be done, clear the 3 point and look good too. Hey Guys , does the idea have merit??

sure, if a single battery of the proper size doesn't have the amp/hour rating check out using two or three batteries of a different form factor. After the battery move will you rotate the tank 90 degrees? Steve

That's a thought I've had Sam. Thinking that battery spot up front might be better suited for a hdro pump and tank. Plus it would elimmate the hot battery problem..MPH

Should work Sam. I assume you are talking about the larger long, narrow batteries like many farm tractors used. I believe they are group 3EH or 4EH, approximately 4" wide, 20" long and 8" high? With those, should be no problem with any amperage lost to the longer cables. Pat
