Yes, that's a bug in sorting the Want Ads. Seems we missed that one in all the browser compatibility checks... Seems to be the same bug for any sort/select option on the Want Ads. We're calling the wrong function -- DUH! We'll get it fixed on Monday.

Well, what do you think? Is it too soon to tell, or is this an improvement? I've gotten no feedback or suggestions yet.... Have I wasted all the hours spent on this change, or can I improve it more by making simple changes? I'm not looking for "pats on the back" just some input....

How do I put an ad in classifieds, still e-mail you with it and photos[if applicable?] What we DON'T want is "undesireable" ads/photos to get in! I for one am not thrilled about it as I'm just getting used to the old site and having to change,BUT as they say 'that's progress! It seems to work fine,as much I've done on it so far. Very good job[no back patting!] as per usual! dlc

Though on testing I had no probs with Netscape 4.51 on Mac, I updated to 4.61 (seems to be a much faster browser) before joining this time. At least in discussions, so far this is great! Can see more postings at once, and much more navigable. Haven't done anymore exploring yet. I'll be sure to submit to "suggestions" if I see the need.

Kent, I find access to the messages much easier with this new format. I really like being able to see all replies at once, and not having to click a million times to go through all the replies. Being able to re-edit the messages just came in handy. I just finished typing up a long suggestion for being able to sort the classifieds. I posted this message, and then looked at the classifieds. I just couldn't believe how fast I got my wish!! So, I came back to modify this message. Cool! Now I don't look like an idiot! Thanks for all your hard work, Greg

Looks great Kent!! Last night I discovered something interesting. My home computer is running net 3.0 and alerts me every time a server wants to set a cookie -- I must make a choice to accept it or not. I found that if I didn't accept the cookie I couldn't log-on to the discussion site. Can we edit our member profiles? Are classified ads going to be here, there or both? How 'bout a link from simpletractors to the discussion ‘Log-In' page? Thanks for all your effort, John

Kent, the site works well with IE 4.01. Login was smooth and I learned to navigate quickly. Runs quicker than the old site. I use webtv for email, will try the site on that medium later on and report my finding. Good job. Bill PS: Just tried the site with webtv. Works good with webtv also.

John, The point about a cookie is a mystery to me. The clubhouse does NOT use cookies and puts nothing on your local computer. It uses only server-side Active Server Pages, and nothing (even scripts) run in your browser. We didn't see this in our testing of Netscape 3.0.... Now for answers: 1. To edit your profile, follow the steps at the link below. Note that you should not change your User Name, or you'll get an error message. I need to update the "Help & FAQs" to describe this. To change your User Name, you should register again and have me delete the old one. User Name is the "key field" in this database. 2. All the classifieds will be moving here. I've stopped accepting new ones in the old format. I moved only the last 2 months worth, because there are so many old ones that needed to be deleted... even the E-mail links were wrong on some. So, if they don't move them, they lose them... I'm giving them until 10/15/99 to move them. 3. Once the new server address is published throughout the WWW network, you'll see a new Simple trACtors home page with two direct links to the Clubhouse. That should happen by sometime this weekend, perhaps tonight... There are literally dozens of "Domain Name Servers (DNS)" that route the traffic through the network. Each one will be updated. Right now, there's actually two Simple trACtors sites, the old one that you're coming from, and the new one waiting for the DNS address change to take place. It should be seamless from this point -- knock on wood! [A href='http://207.254.28.244/clubhouse/help_&_faqs.htm#Edit_profile']http://207.254.28.244/clubhouse/help_&_faqs.htm#Edit_profile[/a]

New discussion format is much quicker to get through. For further ideas, try looking at Sailingworld.com. Their General Message section lists initial queries and replies in an outline form, following a 'thread'. The subject section allows respondents to have sub-headings, so people can see if the replies will be interesting or valid for them. This new setup here is worth sticking with though. Nice work. Thanks!
