716/7016 - does front PTO fit both Kohler & Briggs

Will the front PTO off a 16hp Briggs fit the 16hp Kohler? How much work is it to retrofit the PTO onto a motor that didn't come with one? thanks in advance for your help.

Both the Kohlers and the Briggs on the Simplicitys use a 1" shaft and the Simplicity/AC Factory Mechanical front PTO is made to fit on either of them. There are two sets of holes that the engagment ring can set in . You use the front set of holes for the Briggs and the rear set for the Kohler(I think, could be the other way around). No problem interchanging as long as the shaft sizes and lengthes and basic blocks are the same as the ones native to Simplicity/AC.
