plowing for fun

Snowed all day here but temp. was high enough to keep depth to a minimum. Seemed hardly worth the effort to plow with my B-10. (but of course I did plow anyway, To think I hated to plow snow when We did it to make a living. Fred Wood

I agree Fred, the fastest way to ruin something you enjoy, is to make it your job.

Art, I have to disagree. I do an awful lot of mowing, and have for five years now. In fact the mowing income surpassed the income of repairing this year. I thoroughly enjoy spending my days on my tractor(s). Can't beat making a living with your hobby toys! Pat

I was a dishwasher when i was a kid, thats why i hate doing dishes now. Thats the line I use on wife....never works.

When I was younger I used to fix up cars and sell them for fun & profit. Then I decided to make it my job. Hated it. I used to play with computers for fun. Now I do that for a living. Now thats starting to get old. I think I just hate working.

I think a lot has to do with the amount of pressure you are under, or put yourself under to get a job done. When you know you must earn a certain amount, to keep food on the table, and the bills paid, it makes for additional stress. But, if you can do something you enjoy, and make money at it without the stress, (as Pat, seems to be able to do) you get that perfect situation, of working at, what you enjoy and someone giving you money to boot.

It might have something to do with the hours. When I plowed for my company, I would be away from home in the storm until long after the storm was over.Now I wait till storm is over and it tsakes me an hour to do my driveway and the neighbors. Fred Wood

I used to plow driveways and such for exta $$$ but after 10+ years of getting at 4am and trying to get done so I could be at my regular job for 8am then also trying to decide how much snow was enough to plow and some places on my route would snow more than others ughh!! I decided 2 yrs ago enough was enough gave up plowing. Just take care of my own now less stressful and a lot more enjoyable with the tractors. I play in the snow now!!!!!! ReedS
