Anatomy of a spraycan paint job

Art, did you use the crome spray paint? I did on my B112 and it still looks good, pushing 3 years now..MPH

Hi Marty, yes I did, apparently some of the paint was invisible paint because my pics are appearing and disappearing at will.:D Is it just my computer or are some of the pics not coming up, period?

Art, looks great. All your pictures showed up except #2 (small parts) I clicked on "show picture" they are all there now. Very nice B10. But it looks like a 12hp?

Hey Mike, I never knew, if you right clicked on the pic. that there was a show pic. button. You learn something new everyday! Once its done it will look pretty nice. My philosophy is to make it as nice as possible, considering a lack of working space with no room for a compressor. My one car garage is pretty cramped and makes for some real cramped manuevering.

Art, I've been using spray cans like you are for years. I have a compressor and spray gun, but it is not worth the clean-up hassle when doing small areas. If you have limited spare time like me, sometimes there is only time to clean and paint one or two parts. To use the spray gun, everything must be ready at one time. I usually don't have the space to hang and spray all of the parts at once, and I can get a can into places that I can't spray with a gun. I guess it just depends on your facilities, abilities, and spare time. Sometimes I don't to have much of any of these.

Rod, it's nice to hear that others also do it this way. Needless to say, this method is not going to win us any "best of show" prizes. But, it does give the machine the added protection and considerably better looks. I do remember, how I used to laugh at those guys that would do their whole cars with a spraycan and a paint brush.:D

Art, Looks good! That's the way I did my B207. Although I used a spray gun, I like you, was too cheap to spring for decals so I masked my old ones off too. I sprang for the new seat though. Some things are just too important.:D Great job so far! Gonna post the final ones?

Art, I sure want to see your pics but can't get them to appear even by right clicking. Sure hope this gets fixed. Marty, If you're using Internet Explorer you should be able to right click on the little X where the picture should appear and you will get a menu, then just click on "Show Picture" and the picture should load. Not working for me this morning though. Greg

The pics should work now. The problem was that I was hotlinking to the pics on my web mail site, to try to save space in my gallery.:D Paul, when it done I will post again, I'm going to attemp to do my own seat. Heck, how hard can it be......gulp! Dave, that's one nice paint job! Did you really use a roller?

Greg If the server where the Pictures are up loaded and stored is down you will not be able to Click on show picture and have it work.

lol,,naah not really latex, just some AGCO orange enamel,tinted to right shade and a $14 flea mkt touch up gun,and THATS the truth!,,I find sprays are good for touch ups/small pieces but are generally too watery,,:o)btw very nice job Art, I would agree gotta take your time with sprays,What color is that you used?,,Cat. yellow?,,

Great job Art!!. I did my 3314 about 8 years ago with factory spray cans. After that i followed up with some left over clearcoat. To this day i spray it off and it looks better than new. The clear really protects the paint and is very durable.

Art thanks for the great advice. I was going to use my new spray gun on the 3012 but now I think I will try the cans. If you have never used one, go to Wal-mart or a discount store and pick up the plastic handle for spraycans. They give a lot of control and keep your fingers clean too! I can't wait for final pics! Thanks Larry, actually I did buy one of those plastic handle thinga-ma-jigs. Too dang, technological for me.:D Actually, I seem to get better control with just the finger. Getting good lefty too.
