40¢ per pound weights

For those of you who want to add weights to your tractors, check Walmart. They have barbell weights at approximately 40¢ per pound. The round ones can be used as counter-balance weights, or drilled to use as wheel weights. One brand is hexagon shaped with carrying hand-holes. Seems ideal for suitcase type tractor weights.

My wife brought home two of the plain round ones Friday. She had heard me talk about using dumb bell weights for the tractors. I plan on using the 1 inch center hole for mounting. I'll fabricate a mount similar to the EZ Weight system. The weights fit nicely just inside the rim. Steve

Good idea Herb. Another source for these weights may be your local school district. Locally, several of the school systems hold "surplus" auctions every year. This year my friend and I picked up about 50 of these ranging from 2# to 50# for less than $10.00. I also got a real good 48" deck for my 17GTH for $7.50, a stainless steel counter top 30" x 72" for $5.00 and a section of heavy shelving for #5.00. Smart shopping follows no beaten path around here!
