Broadmoor disease

My good friend and new member here has the age old problem of the pivot pin between the transmission (model 707) and front half of the tractor is rusted in. Other than the 'ole' two H treatment (Heat & Hammer)I know of no other way but maybe I can get some more insight for him. Any thoughts?

Do you know that there was a grease fitting on the underside of your tractor?

Had the same problem with my 738. The pivot was frozen when I got it. I first sprayed liquid wrench all around the front and rear of the pivot and let soak for a day. Repeated this process each day for about a week. After this I hooked the front end of the tractor to a post in my basement with a cable and picked up the back end by the rear wheels and pulled and twisted at the same time. Finally got a little movement. More liquid wrench and soaking, then more pulling and twisting. Finally got it worked apart. Then polished the pivot shaft and used a drum sander and extension in a 12v drill to polish the pivot tube. The drum sander was a perfect fit and polished the tube in no time. Installed a new grease fitting. Put some oil on the pivot shaft and put the pivot back together, greased her up and she works like new. Hope this helps. Greg

I have had three pivoting frame tractors, a broadmoor, a Homesteader, and an Allis B-207. The B-207 must have never been greased on the pivot since factory. Tried for months to pull it apart. After several cans of WD40 and lots of hitting with a hammer things were looking grim. I hooked the tractor between two trucks and tried to pull it apart but that failed as well. I only got the pin about a 1/4 inch out and just decided to scrap it because it was in bad shape anyway, but I hated to do that. I've had the broadmoor's pivout removed once and it was in excellent condition, just slid right out. Took my homesteader apart which was at least only a one evening job and the piviot pin was severly damaged so I replaced it with a spare one. Now it pivots very well.

My Broadmoor pivots OK but the grease fitting is not allowing any grease into the tube. I need to replace the fitting and grease her up after reading these stories! It was something on my to-do list, but now it just made it on to the to-do-now list. Anyway, you learn something new every day. Just waiting for the snow...oh yeah!! I could plow all day, mowing is OK, but plowing is cool!
