Winter Storm Breaks

Well everybody by now knows that for the most part Beautiful New England just has an awesome winter storm. Here in Putnam Ct. we had about 11"- 14" of nice snow (not to wet but just enough to make the govenor work). Anyways, I know I had a blast with my L-112 until he broke! He dropped his right tire off. It looks like an easy fix if I didn't lose any parts in the snow and as usual I only had about 10 minutes worth of work left to do. I guess I'll have to get my 2 B-12s going too so I will have some spares tractors for the next storm.:( Anyhow, I can't be the only one with the "WINTERS BREAKS". Lets hear your war stories with/about Winter Strom CAITLYN!, the first strom of 2003! Bring it on Mother Nature I'll be ready for ya the next time:(![V]:([:0]

Rob, Front tire trouble here in Jersey. But going to remedy that in 5 minutes!!! Think I'll go for the little changer that Art and a few others have, and a pair of the bar tread tires like Kent has!! But **whispers** is on my Ford. JoeJ

No breaks since thursday's shredded belt, although my daughter hands me an orange bolt and says:Pops where does this go? Fortunatly it just belonged the snowblower foot easy fix with 9/16 wrench. Still snowing here. Doug, one of these days when I learn how to steer, shift, hold the blower clutch and throttle all at the same time as well as take pics or teach my other half or 10 yr old to use the cam I'll have some action pics. But for now you can see the aftermath the first shot is my garage and driveway the other is looking out my front yard at the lake. It was lighter when I took the pic but it doesn't show that well. Usually there are sleds out there but i haven't seen too many yet, maybe the snow is too deep for them???:D:p

Just spent almost five hours of quality tractor time... only thing I broke was a tire chain. We got probably 12" - 15" of heavy stuff -- not slush, but like Rob said, it certainly gave the governor a workout. Still having light flurries, but nothing significant.... As I was finishing mine, and giving the 16-year old some snowblowing lessons, my neighbor stopped by and asked if I would come down and help dig out the church. That was fun -- clearing sidewalks where the plows had piled it up, coming off the street. It was probably 30" - 36" in some spots, of really heavy stuff.... Impressed a few folks, and the tractor got a few compliments....

The first storm for 2003 only brought 4.5 inches of snow. Had the Simplicity 3416H with 46 inch snowblade out this morning cleaning the drive ways and paths off.;) The tractor had no break downs and refueled the gas tank waiting for the next snow storm.:D8D

Oddly enough I haven't yet checked the ice thickness although there have a few people out there fishing and such. In past years I have cleared a spot to ice skate but because of snow I'm not sure that I will this year. :)

Weve got about a foot....40+ vehicles have already gone through this year due to thin ice statewide...what crappie is worth dying for??? there is a daily fine, and the cost of getting it towed out, besides ruining your vehicle, I love to fish but.... Doug

So, Reed. Were you satisfied with how the 2110 threw the snow? IMO, they're pretty incredible. My neighbor was using an 8HP Ariens walkbehind, cutting probably 24" (maybe 26"), and throwing it about 8 feet. I was sitting on my behind, and was cutting 36" of tougher stuff, and throwing it at least 15-20 feet, with only 10HP.... Like I said, I think I impressed a few folks there....

OK Rob, you asked for it...... See what half an hour south makes. I didn't even need to start one, let alone both of them. How am I ever going to get the Quality Time with the girls like Marty does with THIS?????:(!

Kent Yes I'm very happy with 2110's perfomance. It really throws the snow. It's got a few minor bugs that I still need to work out of it. I ended up ordering a few pieces from SLI and I hope that might make it work a little better. BTW I found a belt in my junk pile that is keeping the blower working until the proper replacement comes in. Go figure all that the other night and I had one right there. LOL :) Kirk, you can have any of the snow you want free of charge u haul!!!

They uploaded fine, but wouldn't display correctly, for some reason. I looked in your upload directory (see the option for List Photos Attached in Forum, on your Start Page under the My Area menu). Then, I viewed the files to get there URL, and pasted that link in, between the set of <img> tags....

As they often do, that Nor'Easter spared South Jersey. During breaks in my gardening, I was thinking of you New England guys fighting that snow as I sipped iced tea and watched the Weather Channel.

We also got a bit of a break up here in North Jersey for snow Dutch, but the ice was pretty bad. I was working the main gate at the Arsenal last nite and was amazed- at one point we had constant rain, freezing rain or snow for about six hours straight. We ended up with about two inches of snow and a lot of accidents.Still on the long shifts with the heightend terrorist alerts so no time to play.

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
