Help!!!!! Simplicity 700 BGB rebuild

Simpleton

Recommended Posts

Well I've cracked my tractor in half and have removed and disassembled the Bevel gear box. I ordered new gears, seals and ball bearings but didn't order the needle bearings. Besides the obviously stripped gears, how do I know which bearings to replace? Also are there any tips or procedures for rebuilding.?[:0] Thanks Ron

The bearings are cheap, I would replace them all and the seals too. Look in my 2012 frame up restoration post to see the way I did it.

Hi Ron, Daddycat is right, the bearings are cheap, anytime I do a Bevel Gear Box I replace all bearings and seals. Good luck,

Ron You only want to rebuild it once and the price for all of the bearings will be cheaper than haveing to tear down the tractor again and do the job a second time. Remember MURPHY'S LAW.

I definitly agree with guys, the needle bearing are inexpensive and the input shaft needle bearing is ultimatly themost important bearing of the whole tactor IMHO. If you've read my post http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12390 you'll see that I'm doing the same thing to my 700 and unfortunately this is the second time around for the bgb on this tractor but hopefully the last.:p

Hello Ron, Anytime I take a bevel box apart I always replace the oil seals & ball bearings & needle bearings. I just started working on my 725,the bevel box also needs repairs. Karl ;)
